Following more than two years of construction, a new interchange connecting Georgia 400 directly to I-85 will open this afternoon, April 2, at 5 p.m. for this evening’s rush hour. Gov. Nathan Deal will take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony, according to a report from our affiliate CBS46.
The project ran roughly three months behind schedule at a cost of $21.4 million. GDOT spokesman Mark McKinnon said all expenses were paid through funds collected at the GA 400 toll plaza, which stopped taking tolls in the fall of 2013. McKinnon said 30,000 cars are expected to use the road every day.
