The city has applied for a $29.3 million federal grant to extend the Atlanta Streetcar to connect with the Eastside Trail of the Atlanta BeltLine.

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the project would add 1.8 miles of track (round trip) and three new stations to the existing loop through Downtown at a cost of $65.4 million. The route would extend the streetcar tracks east on Edgewood Avenue to meet up with the Eastside Trail.

This first extension is part of a larger plan to create 50-miles of streetcar lines connecting the city to the BeltLine. You can read more at this link.
