A water main break on Vermack Road that occurred around 6:15 a.m. today forced the relocation of Dunwoody High School students to Chamblee High School.
Some residents near the break reported either dark water coming out of faucets, or no water whatsoever.
Emails and text messages to Dunwoody High School students said that students were to report to homerooms and then be transported by bus to Chamblee High School for first period classes. Seniors were to go to the school’s auditorium and freshman, sophomores and juniors were to report to the gym.
Several parents posted on social media that they were keeping their children at home, while others said their children left DHS before classes started.
Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch reported on social media around 8:00 a.m. that crews were making progress towards restoring service and several affected residents reported that service had been restored.
The break, near Vermack Pool and the Donaldson-Bannister house, forced the closure of Vermack Road in both directions.
Nearby Peachtree Middle, Chesnut and Vanderlyn Schools reported no disruption in services.
