A carbon monoxide leak forced the evacuation of a Downtown Atlanta hotel and sent five people to the hospital.

The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department posted on social media that the incident occurred at the Marriott Residence Inn at 134 Peachtree St. just after 9 a.m. this morning.

AFRD shut off the gas line, evacuated the building, and conducted a sweep of the hotel. Five people – three adults and two children – were sent to the hospital to be monitored for carbon monoxide poisoning.

The fire department described the scene as “stable” in the social media post just after 10 a.m.
