Even with rain in the forecast for the weekend, the Georgia Department of Transportation is still planning to get some work done  and is warning motorists to plan ahead and use alternate routes around construction work.

Even though the new flyover ramps are open on the I-85/Georgia 400 Interchange project, there is still some work to be done in the next couple of months that will require lane closures.

This weekend, from 6 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday, there will be a double right lane closure on I-85 southbound from ½ mile north of Clairmont Road to North Druid Hills for sign structure removal work. The contractor will also be removing overhead signs on Georgia 400 southbound that will require a single right lane closure from Peachtree Road to Sidney Marcus Boulevard during the same time frame. Traffic will be paced at various times in both of these areas.

“I think we will be dodging the rain this weekend,” said District Construction Engineer Shun Pringle. “Motorists, including Spring Breakers, still need to plan ahead to avoid delays, even though we may not have as much going on this weekend. Call 511 or look at a mapping web site before you leave home.”
