As the Georgia state legislature cranks up for another year of lawmaking, there are a few new hands on the controls.
One is Dunwoody Sen. Fran Millar. He still will lead in education, but he left the House of Representatives after 10 years for a seat in the Senate this year. Still, he retained a committee chairmanship. He had headed the House Education Committee; this year, he takes the chairmanship of the Senate Education and Youth Committee.
Republican Rep. Mike Jacobs takes the chair at MARTOC, the panel in charge of MARTA legislation. He replaces Chamblee Republican Rep. Jill Chambers, who lost her bid for re-election in November.
