As renovations at Brookhaven’s Briarwood Park approach the finish line, the city is announcing the pool and recreation center will open in June.

Improvements to Briarwood are one of the last remaining projects under the $40 million park bond approved by voters after substantial public input.

The city put $4.6 million into renovating the property including improved lighting, EV chargers, stormwater mitigation, resurfacing, and additional sidewalks.

“While weather set us back a few weeks from our original opening date, soon we’ll be able to enjoy a revitalized Briarwood Park that will be worth the wait,” Brookhaven Councilmember Jennifer Owens said. “Briarwood was already an asset to our community, but it is made even better and more environmentally sustainable with the new and refreshed amenities.”

The community garden and loop trail will open in July. Details about the grand re-opening event at Briarwood are expected to be announced soon.
