The Atlanta Police Department is investigating the circumstance surrounding an officer involved shooting on Boulevard in the Old Fourth Ward on Friday night. According to police, the incident happened near the APD’s mini-precinct near the intersection of Boulevard and Rankin Street.

According to police, officers approached a group of men who were suspected of drug activity just before 7 p.m. A struggle ensued and a suspect was tasered by the officer and then shot once in the back.

Our media affiliate CBS46 has identified the suspect as Desmond Hunter, 22. He was transported just down the street to Atlanta Medical Center in stable condition.
